Liz Seymour Reflects about YPTW Overnight Camp
As you've probably seen from my previous post, I had a really great time at overnight camp this year.
I was starting to have trouble creating my choreography the previous week and reworked moves throughout the week during prep periods, but I was pleased with what the students had accomplished and what we were able to do together.
My second morning class was a dance class for our youngest female campers. This group brought me such joy each morning because they were so excited to dance! They did a great job with their dance. Part of their excitement came when Brian Lowdermilk learned the first portion of their dance with them. Brian is my age and was teaching vocal and song writing classes across the hall. We were able to steal him one morning for some fun. And yes, we have his dancing on tape!
Camp was also exciting because I was able to spend it with friends who attended camp when I did: Kait Kerrigan, Brian Lowdermilk and Josh Young served as teachers this year. I think 2005 was the last time we were all there together. It was just an added bonus to experience camp with old classmates who now reside in NYC.
